Vietnam May Become Leading Importer of Brazilian Corn, Soybeans
USAgNet - 07/19/2018

Vietnam could become the leading importer of corn and soybeans of Brazil and will consider importing beef as well. Brazil in turn will also boost imports of Vietnamese coffee, pangasius and shrimp.

This information was shared at the meeting between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Brazilian President Michel Temer in Sao Paulo City last week.

Due to Brazil's scandal on quality control last year, 20 countries including Vietnam stopped importing Brazilian beef. Many countries have resumed after receiving written explanations and pledges from the Brazilian government.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that Vietnam could be the gateway for Brazil into Asean. Similarly, Brazil will be the bridge for Vietnam's goods into the South American market.
