Autumn Wine Affair Heading to Liberty Aviation Museum
Ohio Ag Connection - 09/23/2016

A great way to bring in the fall: This one-day wine tasting event will be held, in two separate sessions, at the Liberty Aviation Museum on Oct. 22.

The Liberty Aviation Museum was established on December 7th 1991 with a handful of dedicated volunteers to showcase WW2 aircraft. Its mission is to provide an adequate organization for historians, aircraft and vehicle preservationists and collectors interested in encouraging internationally the acquisition, restoration, operation, preservation, public education and display of historic aircraft, vehicles and related items.

In 1994 the volunteers located a flyable Ford Tri-motor which is currently being restored through the establishment of a Tri-Motor Heritage Foundation. In 2010 they added a flyable vintage World War II B-25 Mitchell Bomber. In 2012 the organization moved it to its permanent home at the Erie-Ottawa County Regional Airport, in a beautiful resorted area which is the location for the upcoming wine event.

The tasting will feature 12 regional wineries* and is sponsored, in part, by the Lake Erie Shores and Islands and the Ohio Grape Industries Committee and is coordinated by the Ohio Wine Producers Association. Each session will feature entertainment, award winning Adams' Reserve cheeses and of course more than 4 dozen wines.

"We are elated to be showcasing some of Ohio's finest wines at this classic venue," said Donniella Winchell, executive director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association.

Adrian Salvador of Firelands Winery shared, "We will be pouring our wines which reflect the unique soils, climate and terroir of the Lake Erie Shores and Islands which have produced so many nationally acclaimed vintages."
